All About Craps
If you've ever wondered what the difference between a "boxperson" and a "stickperson" was, or if you've ever had the curious inkling to find out what the "hard ways" are all about, then you have "come" to the right place.
Craps is a spectacular game, that can provide some of the highest level excitment that a casino has to offer, and the Casino Snob has the scoop on all the resources you need to learn the game, and play to win!
We here at the Casino Snob love pretty much all games of chance, but craps will always hold a special place in our hearts. No other game can elicit the cheers and jeers of a craps table on a streak. You know that eruption of clapping and cheering you hear when you're plunking down quarters into your favorite slot machine? Thats more than likely the sound of a craps table having a great time. Thats because most of the time, at a craps table, everyone is hoping for the same outcome of the dice. Unlike Blackjack, where a "wrong" move can upset the person next to you, craps bets don't effect the next roll of the dice, and most everyone is just hoping the "point" will come up before a "bust".
But wait? Are you still lost? Not to worry. We have compiled a list of fantastic sites that will help lay it all out for you.
How Stuff Works: Craps -- How Stuff Works, a great site for learning... well... how stuff works.
Wikipedia: Craps -- The entry may change, but thats what makes Wikipedia so neat!
The Wizard of Odds: Craps -- We hear he is a wiz of a wiz, if ever a wiz there was.
Beat the Craps out of the Casinos -- "Until now, craps has been considered an unbeatable casino game because the house has an edge on every bet. Learn how to take beat the system in this new edtion of the bestselling book on craps."
We found this book to be rather well done. It has excellent strategies, and it did us well at the tables. Though of course, your results may vary.
Forever Craps -- Ok.. so this one is a little more advanced, and it has as much stories and anecdotes about the author's adventures, as strategy itself, but at least its entertaining, and the strategies ARE reasonable. Note that its the same author as "Beat the Craps"
Conquering Casino Craps -- The author claims the "Power Betting Strategy" can net you good money on a hot roll, its an interesitng way to use the casino's money against itself. But you'd better be sharp, or you'll miss the point of the strategy.
The Casinos To Visit
Foxwoods - Connecticut - For those in the northeast, there arent too many options, but the craps tables in Foxwoods are good, if you dont mind the usual $10 minimum bets. On the bright side, when its slower you can get $5 tables, and you ALWAYS get a 3-4-5 betting structure, which is nice.
Caesar's Palace -- Vegas - If its swank you want, then its hard to beat Caesar's Palace. The limits will be high, but the environ's are very hard to beat. Remember to bring that casino style.
Casino Royale -- Vegas - Caesar's Palace this is *not*, but its still got a 100x odds bet. And a $2 minimum. That makes for one hell of a fun time. Oh, and the Killian's Red flows like water.
Hard Rock -- Vegas - If your interested in fun, more than necesarrily the optimum craps, a welcome balance can be found in the Hard Rock. The atmosphere is very cool, the music is always good, and the eye candy is amazing.
Tropicana -- Atlantic City - We're suckers for the Tropicana, True 5x Odds, 11 tables, and a $5 minimum. And we reccommend a drink with orange juice while you play.
