Casino Cocktail Friday -- Cuban Class at the Blackjack Table

mojito.jpg

Welcome to the first of many installments of "Casino Cocktail Friday". We will endeavor each week to bring to you a different cocktail, and a game you can enjoy it at. And what combination has the honor of being first?

Why its none other than a Mojito at the blackjack table. Read on to find out why this unlikely pair is a winner.

First, you may ask.. what is a mojito?

Well, a mojito (pronounced: "Moe-Hee-Toe") is a cuban cockatail, that is made up of the following:

1 part Rum
3 parts Cub Soda
12 Mint Leaves
1/2 Lime
1/2 parts sugar

Its sweeter than most cocktails, and it has a very unique flavor. It also is one of those drinks that you can't get everywhere, seeing as not every bar has mint and sugar. So your first hint is, if you can't get a mojito, than you deserve a better blackjack table. You should only be spending your valuable gaming time at a casino that has a decent bar. They're getting money from you, you may as well get good drinks.

Why Blackjack?
The truth is, Blackjack is a game of confidence, and calculation. Its a game where you have to have the machismo to make the correct call, even when you feel some part of you screaming to do something else. The mojito embodies that machismo, and yet keeps a sweet side, which is what your demeanor should always be toward your fellow blackjack players. You can more about blackjack at our All About Blackjack post if you're confused.

Still not convinced that a mojito is right for you?

We have spoken with the experts over at Liquor Snob to get their opinion, and here's what they had to say:

Russell: So, are we right or what? Blackjack, machismo, style, Mojito. Its the only choice you can conclude.
Jake: Well, it *is* the summer of the mojito. I for one applaud your call. But well...
Russell: what?
Jake: Well, we're just wondering if it has the... manliness that you need to present at the table.
Russell: It's not poker. You dont have to fool anyone.
Jake: No, I suppose not, but your image may decide if that fine looking woman next to you offers to *cough* "double down".
Russell: Ok, what would you suggest then? Another blackjack drink?
Jake: No no, the choice was good. But you need to put a little hair on it. Try a dark mojito.
Russell: Whats that?
Jake: Standard mojito, but with dark rum. You should try a couple of our favorites: Jack Tar, and Big Black Dick.
Russell: Big what now?
Jake: Big Black Dick. Cheeky name, but excellent rum.
Russell: I guess if you want to turn some heads at the blackjack table, saying you'd like to oder a "dark mojito with big black dick" would do it.
Jake: Now you get it.
Russell: Ok.. well thanks Jake.
Jake: Anytime.

We've heard from the expert. A dark mojito is just what you need to project some attitude, and dare the dealer to get blackjack. Its almost enough to convince us to buy insurance. Almost.

Until next week, enjoy your drink, good luck, and remember to tip your cocktail watress. The drinks may be free, but the service ain't!
