Casino Cocktail Friday -- Cosmopolitan Bones

Time flies when you're living the life of Jack Colton. Time also flies when you're rolling the bones in one of the most popular games in a casino, craps. Before you realize it, you're flush with chips, you've made a table rich, and you're feeling parched. The cocktail waitress strolls by, and asks you if you'd like a drink. First, you ask for a water, because you know you need to stay hydrated when you're on a roll, but before you blow your table cred by ordering a Budweiser, remember that you are IT. You are the one who is running this table. You are the intelligent, amazing person who knows how to play the table right, and you're going to show everyone else there that those bones better not move until you bust out. You make the right call, and ask for a cosmopolitan. Just like the name implies, you're sophisticated, you're intelligent, and tonight, you're the one in charge.
Lady, or Gentleman, read on to find out why the cosmo is the right cocktail to order when you're at the craps table.
First, the Cosmo:
1 oz vodka
1/2 oz triple sec
1/2 oz Rose's® lime juice
1/2 oz cranberry juice
garnish with orange peel
The cosmopolitan may be one of the most perfectly gender-balanced drinks. It looks a lot like a girly-drink, but it packs a punch like a manly-drink. Ladies see a man drinking a cosmopolitan, and they realize he's got a sensitive side. Gentlemen see a lady drinking a cosmo, and they realize shes got some fire in her. This is why the cosmo so well fits the craps table image.
Craps, as we've looked at before, is all about the social aspect. There is no other game in the casino that quite captures the exhilaration and excitement of a craps table in full swing. You are there with everyone else at the table. You're playing your game not against the crowd, but with it. And when you're rolling with them, you're making friends, and you're sharing adventure. The cosmo helps to give you just the right blend of sophistication and fun so that people around you know you are there to have a good time, and you wouldn't mind making some money in the meantime. While you're at it, you may even make them some money.
Another reason we like the cosmo at the craps table, is because it has that kick. Now, we all know that you should never drink too much while you're playing. It will loosen your inhibition, which may lead to poorly judged bets on the floor (why else do you think casinos serve free drinks?). But in our humble opinion, in a game that can be as sometimes fickle as craps, if it starts tanking fast, you may as well get some drink for your buck.
So the next time you are shootin hard at the craps table, pass on the suds, and order yourself up a cosmo. You will be letting people know you have class, and that you're out to have a good night. And if you happen to hit a sweet run, make sure you tip the dealer AND your cocktail waitress. Then maybe that karma will keep your rolls hot.
