Electronic Poker Tables? Whats the world coming to?
We love poker. Its one of the few games you can play, where your wits can help mean the difference between a win and a loss. Its also one of the few games that you can interact with the house in a unique way. A poker dealer can become a part of the table's feel, and can really help make your day, even when you are getting burned on the river time and again.
So now we hear of a video that was apparantly recorded during a World Series of Poker convention that is showing off a dealer-less electronic poker table.
WHAT? Electronic Poker?

OK, where's the dealer? Sure, you don't have to toke them, and that may improve your bottom line, but you are missing out on that personal feel. Gone would be the days of whitty banter, and the ability to tip a good dealer for doing an outstanding job.
And just how do you peek at your cards? Surely those individual screens can show you the cards, but how do they do it without letting your neighbor crane their ugly mug over and see your secrets?
And chip tricks? Forget 'em. No more will you hear that gratifying sound of chips clinking on chips. You also wont be able to read a player based on how they are interacting with their money.
No, we like our poker tables just the way they are. The auto shuffler is one thing, as it can speed up the game, but e-Poker is another thing altogether. Maybe this could work in a home game, but we hope we don't see these things replacing the tables in our favorite poker rooms any time soon.
