Want to Start Your Career in a Casino? Head to Detroit.

We wouldn't have thought Detroit was the place for that new casino opportunities, but hey, who are we to argue!

While it prepares to open a new $765 million hotel and gambling center, the MGM Grand Detroit Casino will hire 1,000 new workers this summer.

The casino has openings in areas including administration, finance, food and beverage, hotel operations, human resources, table games and marketing.

''It's nice to be announcing some good job news for Detroit,'' MGM spokesman Bob Berg told The Detroit News for a story published Thursday. ''All these jobs will come with a full benefit package with competitive wages.''

Interviews will begin later this month. The casino will open a downtown staffing center to conduct interviews and training, the Detroit Free Press reported.

Rest of the story at the South Bend Tribune.
