Endless Summer: Atlantic City Exploring Indoor Pools

atlanticCity.jpg

Via Casino City Times, comes this story from the Philidelphia Inquirer about Atlantic City's next big gamble, a massive indoor pool. As noted in the article, the problem with Atlantic City, is that its not always summer. Harrah's has decided to change all that, and build a gorgeous glass dome enclosed half-acre pool.

Planners have aimed to achieve a tropical ambience, and Harrah's invested $1 million worth of landscaping in the attempt. Scores of palms, ranging from 17 to 45 feet tall, have been planted around the pool, including 20 towering Washingtonia palm trees, along with ficus, white birds of paradise and bamboo.

The pool itself will be kept between 78 and 81 degrees, and the water is specially formulated to eliminate the heavily chlorinated smell normally associated with indoor pools.

Several interesting points about the new Harrah's pool complex:

On Sundays, it's the setting for a luau.

Although it's open only to hotel guests during the day, themed public events are scheduled four nights a week, when anyone can attend and visitors can take a dip.

Now we have no reason not to visit Atlantic City, even in the off months. Huzzah! (or should we say.. Harrah!)
